State of play – outstanding and planned works

As it stands the vehicle needs a lot of TLC, there’s lots of broken or bodged bits of wiring, trim, etc and there’s a lot of stuff planned. Just look at the trello board for an idea.

A number of topics I’ll cover in another post but for now this is a general overview.

I’ve fixed the bodged stereo loom as much as possible, I suspect I’ll run new cables to the speakers down the line as I’ll want to add rear speakers. For now it just needs to function to get a stereo/screen in.

I fitted Puma take out seats with the heating elements in, and purchased the loom. After sourcing some genuine 2nd hand switches (from a discovery or freelander, can’t remember) I’ve started to wire this in. They’re powered from Fuse 33 which is where the factory fit loom would have connected to. I’m just waiting for some flexible conduit to protect the cables which run to the seats and then that’ll be complete.

We’re also fitting insulation/noise cancelling to all the panels where possible (can’t put it under the carpet on the floor or the seatbox, however we’ll get thinner stuff for that.

An autobox from a Discovery 2 TD5 has been acquired, and I’m working on a plug and play loom instead of having to splice cables everywhere. I may even sell these to people if they’re interested.

There is a tonne of wishlist stuff – winch/discrete winch bumper, diesel cab heater, heated windscreen, upgraded gauges, rear electric windows, more modern steering wheel.
